1. Industrialization Progress

Hubei’s first SSB line operational – On May 27, Heyuan Lichuang’s 20GWh Phase I plant in Xiantao rolled out its first cell. Using oxide technology, cells (250–400Wh/kg) target robots, drones, and e-bikes.
10,000-ton oxide electrolyte line – Languang New Energy started mass production in Liyang on May 31, signing strategic deals across the supply chain.

2. Technical Breakthroughs

  • Ganfeng Lithium: 400Wh/kg cell exceeded 1,100 cycles, validated for scaling; world’s first 500Wh/kg 10Ah product in small-batch production.

  • Sunwoda: Semi-solid phone battery (10,000mAh) mass-produced; 1st-gen semi-solid >300Wh/kg; 2nd-gen in pilot; 3rd-gen all-solid at 400Wh/kg design.

  • Changan Auto: Patent for a solid-state battery module that applies active pressure to maintain interface stability, addressing volume expansion.

3. Industry Chain

  • Shanghai Electric × Anwa: Signed on June 3 to co-develop semi-solid batteries for storage, ships, and AI data centers.

  • Xinlv Era: Has production-ready solid-state battery box enclosures (announced June 1).

  • Yuanli Tech: Completed multiple customer sampling of specialty polymers for solid-state electrolytes.

  • Jiantu New Materials: Signed a project on interface improvement between solid electrolytes and lithium metal anodes (Huizhou, May 28).

4. Conclusion

The solid-state battery industry continues its commercial push, but progress has moderated. While several players have achieved technology iterations and small-scale production, a significant gap remains before mass-market commercialization can be realized. Semi-solid batteries are finding early adoption in consumer electronics and specialized equipment, yet all-solid-state systems still face major hurdles in cost, manufacturing yield, and cycle life.

According to SMM forecasts, all-solid-state battery shipments will reach 13.5 GWh by 2028, while semi-solid-state battery shipments will reach 160 GWh. Global lithium-ion battery demand is projected to reach approximately 2,800 GWh by 2030, with the EV sector's lithium-ion battery demand showing a CAGR of around 11% from 2024 to 2030, ESS lithium-ion battery demand at a CAGR of about 27%, and consumer electronics lithium battery demand at a CAGR of roughly 10%. Global solid-state battery penetration is estimated at about 0.1% in 2025, with all-solid-state battery penetration expected to reach around 4% by 2030, and global solid-state battery penetration potentially approaching 10% by 2035.

[SMM Analysis: China's Phosphate Ore Imports Plunged 87% in July to a Near Three-Year Low, Exports Fell to Zero] In July 2026, China's phosphate ore imports totaled just 17,000 mt, plunging 87.3% MoM to a near three-year low, while exports fell to zero. The average import price was $84.5/mt, down 7.6% MoM. Among importing provinces, only Guangxi maintained imports of 14,000 mt, with all others dropping to zero. Egypt's import volume from the source country plunged 81%, while Kazakhstan saw marginal growth. After a surge in exports in June, they fell to zero in July, mainly due to order fulfillment completion, off-season demand, and regulatory policies. Imports are unlikely to rebound in the short term, with attention on winter stockpiling and export policy changes.
