The Quality Inspection and Detection Center for Magnesium-Aluminum Alloy Products in Anhui Province was approved for establishment

Published: Jul 31, 2025 15:12

On July 23, approved by the Anhui Provincial Market Supervision and Administration Bureau, the Anhui Magnesium-Aluminum Alloy Product Quality Inspection and Testing Center was officially established. The center will be based on the development needs of the new material industry in Chizhou City, focusing on quality inspection, scientific research, and standard formulation and revision of magnesium-aluminum alloy products, providing strong technical support for the high-quality development of the magnesium-based and aluminum-based industries in Chizhou City.

Constructing a high-standard inspection and testing platform. The center relies on the Chizhou Quality Supervision and Inspection Research Institute as its parent organization, and has built a professional laboratory with an area of approximately 3,200 m². It is equipped with 153 sets of high-precision testing equipment, including direct reading spectrometers, atomic absorption spectrometers, and metallographic microscopes. It has the testing capability for four major categories of magnesium-aluminum alloy products, including magnesium-aluminum alloy materials, profile bars and tubes, plate/sheet, strip and foil, and castings. It can accurately test 135 key parameters such as the chemical composition, mechanical properties, and coating performance of magnesium-aluminum alloys.

High-level talents empower technological innovation. The center has established a professional technical team of 17 members, with 70.6% holding intermediate or senior professional titles, providing a solid talent guarantee for technological R&D and quality inspection. It has been approved to establish the 15th batch of provincial-level postdoctoral research workstations, and has established in-depth cooperative relationships with universities such as Chongqing University and Hefei University of Technology. It focuses on the training of high-end talents in the workstations, providing intellectual support for industrial technological innovation.

Industry-university-research collaboration promotes industrial upgrading. The center maintains close cooperation with Chizhou University, Jiangnan Light Alloy Research Institute, and magnesium-aluminum alloy product production and processing enterprises, actively promoting the deep integration of industry, university, and research. As of now, it has initiated three provincial and municipal-level scientific and technological innovation projects, applied for four invention patents, and published seven professional papers, achieving remarkable results in scientific and technological innovation.

Precision services empower enterprise development. The center adheres to the construction concept of "simultaneous construction, research, and inspection", visiting more than 20 magnesium-aluminum-related enterprises and actively aligning with enterprise needs. It has carried out promotions of the inspection and testing capabilities of the magnesium-aluminum quality inspection center, reached cooperation intentions with six enterprises, completed 50 sets of commissioned inspections of magnesium-aluminum alloy products, and provided technical services such as performance testing and personnel training for four enterprises.

Silicon Metal Market Review for January and Outlook for February
In January, the silicon metal market experienced a relatively loose supply-demand balance, with a theoretical inventory buildup of approximately 30,000 mt. In February, both supply and demand contracted simultaneously, and the market is expected to show a tight balance or minor destocking. The current high industry inventory still requires time to be digested, and the sustainability of destocking remains a key variable affecting price trends and market sentiment.

A plant in northern China is calling for bids for indium ingots and bismuth ingots
SMM, February 6 - According to SMM’s investigation of market information, a large smelter in northern China began public bidding for a certain quantity of indium ingots and bismuth ingots starting yesterday. Market sources indicate that the starting price for these indium ingots exceeds 4,000 yuan per kilogram, while the starting price for bismuth ingots is above 150,000 yuan per ton. The bidding results are expected to be announced before the Spring Festival. Market participants note that, given the clear trend of sluggish trading activity ahead of the Spring Festival, the timing of this bidding is not ideal. However, the relatively favorable starting prices have generated considerable market anticipation for the outcome of the bidding.
