According to SMM, Lifezone Metals has released the feasibility study report for its flagship Kabanga nickel project, a follow-up measure to the preliminary assessment released over a month ago. Located in the north-west of Tanzania, Kabanga is considered one of the world's largest and highest-grade undeveloped nickel sulfide projects, with resources containing over 2 million mt of nickel metal. The deposit also contains significant amounts of copper and cobalt (by-products of the nickel production process). The report indicates that the initial development phase of the mine will focus on constructing and operating an underground mining operation and beneficiation plant with an annual capacity of 3.4 million mt. The feasibility study now includes upgrading the resources to reserves for the nickel sulfide project, totaling 52.2 million mt, with a nickel grade of 1.98%, a copper grade of 0.27%, and a cobalt grade of 0.15%. This is the first time in the project's 50-year history that metal reserves have been estimated for Kabanga.
