China has deployed the world's largest fleet of autonomous electric mining trucks in Inner Mongolia, comprising a total of 100 self-driving vehicles. Developed by Huaneng Mengdong Company, a subsidiary of the state-owned energy giant China Huaneng Group, these trucks are equipped with Huawei's autonomous driving technology. Known as "Huaneng Ruichi" mining trucks, they incorporate advanced technologies, including 5G-A communication, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing platforms, intelligent battery swapping systems, and high-precision maps, enabling reliable operation in harsh coal mine environments and automated loading and unloading operations. This deployment has also received support from partners such as XCMG Group and the University of Science and Technology Beijing, and is expected to increase transportation efficiency by 20%. According to forecasts by the China National Coal Association, by the end of 2025, the number of automated mining trucks nationwide will exceed 5,000, and is projected to reach 10,000 by 2026.
