According to Webstock Inc., citing foreign media on February 20, Canadian miner Teck Resources announced on Thursday that its Q4 profit exceeded analysts' expectations due to increased copper production at its mine in Chile.
The company reported that total copper production in Q4 reached 122,100 mt, up 19% YoY, with production from the Quebrada Blanca (QB) mine in Chile at 60,700 mt.
Jonathan Price, the company's CEO, stated in a release: "Thanks to the strong performance of the Quebrada Blanca mine, our copper production in Q4 reached a record high for the quarter."
Strong sales and favorable copper prices also provided support.
The company has been investing in the debottlenecking project at QB, which is expected to further increase processing capacity by 10-15%.
Teck Resources expects copper production in 2025 to range between 490,000-565,000 mt.
