【Breakthrough in Solid-State Battery R&D: Sulfide Electrolytes】

On April 10th, according to information from the Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Advanced Energy Storage Materials Research Group at the institute has made new progress in the research of sulfide electrolytes, solving the issues with the stacking process for sulfide all-solid-state batteries.

They have established a pilot-scale production line for kilogram-level batch preparation of sulfide electrolytes, capable of stable large-scale production. They have also built a small-scale all-solid-state battery production line, and the high-voltage, long-cycle-life soft-pack all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries they developed can maintain 92% of their capacity after 1,000 cycles at 0.5C rate under room temperature (Toyota's target is 1,500 cycles with 80% capacity retention), and have good 4C rate discharge capability.

The research breakthrough in sulfide electrolytes represents an important advancement in the development of solid-state batteries.
