Today's lithium carbonate market saw a modest increase, with the SMM index at 111,571 yuan/ton (~15,431.67 USD/ton) and futures rising by 0.44%, amid slight fluctuations.

Market Overview and Price Trends:

The SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate index slightly increased to 111,571 yuan/ton (~15,431.67 USD/ton), up by 6 yuan. Battery-grade lithium carbonate prices were between 110,500 yuan/ton (~15,283.54 USD/ton) and 113,500 yuan/ton (~15,698.48 USD/ton), with the average price at 112,000 yuan/ton (~15,491.01 USD/ton), marking a 150 yuan increase. Industrial-grade lithium carbonate saw prices range from 107,000 yuan/ton (~14,799.45 USD/ton) to 110,000 yuan/ton (~15,214.38 USD/ton), with the average reaching 108,500 yuan/ton (~15,006.92 USD/ton), up by 500 yuan.

Today's lithium carbonate market reflects cautious sentiment among producers and trading companies' interest in securing supplies, against a backdrop of just-in-time purchasing strategies from downstream enterprises. Despite the minimal price increase, the market is navigating through minor fluctuations, closely monitoring supply dynamics and downstream purchasing strategies.

Futures Market Movement:

The lithium carbonate (2407) main futures contract saw a 0.44% rise, opening at 114,000 yuan/ton (~15,767.63 USD/ton) and closing at 114,150 yuan/ton (~15,788.38 USD/ton). The trading volume reached 159,011 lots, with open interest marginally increasing by 400 lots to 184,198 lots. The day began with a notable decline in prices, followed by a recovery, indicating a volatile trading session but ultimately closing with a slight increase.

Concluding Insights:

The lithium carbonate market today demonstrates slight upward adjustments in both the spot and futures markets amidst ongoing cautious sentiment and strategic purchasing. With the lithium-ion battery industry maintaining a balance of robust supply and demand, the market's short-term trajectory is expected to continue with minor fluctuations, underpinned by strategic adjustments from both suppliers and buyers. ​
