SHANGHAI, Feb 27 (SMM) -

Polysilicon: The mainstream prices of recharging polysilicon and dense polysilicon were 60-63 yuan/kg and 56-60 yuan/kg respectively. The polysilicon price index stood at 56.20 yuan/kg.

Supply and demand: At present, the polysilicon market continued to remain stable. The leading manufacturers did not enter a new round of quotation period. The inventory of high-quality and inferior materials of production enterprises diverged. Major manufacturers are currently less willing to sign orders, and it is expected that a new round of representative transaction orders will gradually appear this weekend and early next week.

Modules

In yesterday's market, the mainstream transaction price of bifacial-182mm monocrystalline PERC modules was 0.93 yuan/w, and the mainstream transaction price of bifacial-210mm monocrystalline PERC modules was 0.95 yuan/w.

Supply and demand: Component prices are generally stable, but there is currently a gaming mentality in the market - especially for P-type modules. Some major manufacturers are asking dealers to increase their quotations, but there is some resistance in the downstream, Prices for concentrated delivery projects did not improve significantly.

PV film

Price

PV film: The current mainstream price of 420g transparent EVA film is 6.72-6.93 yuan/square meter, the price of 420g white EVA film is 6.30-6.80 yuan/square meter, the price of 380g EPE film is 7.60-7.98 yuan/square meter, and the price of 460g POE film is 13.34-13.80 yuan/square meter. The reason for the large price difference at present is that film companies adjust prices at different paces. There were transactions at lower prices. It is expected that the adjustment pace will be unified in early March.

Supply and Demand

PV-grade EVA: POE PV-grade EVA has reached around US$2,800/ton, and the supply is normal and has not been affected by the Chinese New Year. PV-grade EVA are gradually being scheduled for production, with a normal pace and obvious downstream demand.

Film: Currently, the normal production of the film factory continues, orders are received normally, and downstream demand is strong. The downstream is more concerned about the price changes and supply and demand of the film.

Inverters

Price: This week, the price of 20 kw grid-connected inverters was 0.15-0.19 yuan/W, the price of 50kw was 0.14-0.18 yuan/W, and the price of 110kw was 0.12-0.17 yuan/W.

Supply and demand: There is no overall change in the inverter price range, and the overall price remains stable. The supply side is adequate, and downstream purchase orders is gradually starting. Demand for mainstream power models in industrial and commerce industry has recovered, and overseas procurement are improving.

[SMM Chromium Flash] China’s High-Carbon FeCr Capacity Utilization Slips to 56% in September, Southern Output Retreats
SMM data showed that China’s high-carbon ferrochrome output in September 2026 fell 3.17% MoM but rose 18.8% YoY, with January to September output up 30.84% YoY. Capacity utilization was about 56%, down from about 57.6% in August. Capacity was almost unchanged, down only 0.3% MoM, so the output decline reflects producers choosing to run fewer furnaces rather than losing capacity. Cost inversion explains the pattern. Firm coke prices, higher power tariffs and slow-moving chrome ore prices raised costs, while lower steel mill tender prices weakened ferrochrome prices, leaving higher-cost plants in the south with little or no margin. Output in Guizhou, Hunan and Guangxi combined fell 23.33% MoM, accounting for nearly 60% of the national decline, and utilization in Hunan and Guizhou dropped to about 12% and 20%. Inner Mongolia, with roughly 81% of national output, dipped only 0.31% MoM at about 75.5% utilization, as its scale and lower costs kept furnaces running. That resilience is why YoY and YTD growth remain strong even though the MoM decline has widened and both growth rates have eased since August. SMM expects southern output to stay subdued until margins recover, while northern output holds broadly steady.

[SMM Chromium Flash] Valterra’s Processing Optimization Delivers R203 Million in Annual Savings
Valterra Platinum has achieved annual cost savings of R203 million through the deployment of Jameson flotation cells at the north concentrator of its Mogalakwena mine in South Africa, according to an update published on 9 October 2026. The technology replaced approximately 44 conventional flotation cells with four Jameson cells, improving the efficiency of platinum-group metal (PGM) concentration. The project has also reduced concentrate volumes sent for smelting, lowering smelting electricity consumption by 70.5 million kWh and associated carbon emissions by approximately 73,000 tonnes, according to the company’s first-half results. For the chromium market, the development highlights how improved mineral processing and concentrate management can help PGM producers address chrome-related smelting constraints. Valterra blends concentrates from different ore sources to manage chrome content in smelter feed, while continuing to optimize chrome recovery circuits at its Amandelbult and Mototolo operations. A study into deploying Jameson cells at Mogalakwena’s south concentrator is also well advanced, although the projected benefits have not yet been confirmed.
