SHANGHAI, Apr 21 (SMM) – China’s electrolyte output stood at 63,900 mt in March, A drop of 3% MoM and a growth of 26% YoY. The demand for electrolyte of battery enterprises in the first half of the month was acceptable, but took a sharp turn for the worse in late March.
Weak end-user demand, coupled with continued decline in the prices of raw materials such as lithium carbonate as well as car companies and energy storage plants delaying delivery taking, drove battery manufacturers to lower output and destock inventories. This reduced demand for electrolyte.
Purchases by producers of batteries used in digital products and electric bicycles as well as two-wheeled, three-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles increased slightly.
In April, as battery companies continued to reduce production, the demand for electrolyte further weakened. The initial estimate of electrolyte output in April was 58,060 mt.
