Global Iron Ore Shipments Rose 18.1% Week-on-Week to 31.01 Million mt during September 12-18

SHANGHAI, Sep 19 (SMM) - SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 31.01 million mt in the week ending September 18, an increase of 18.1% week-on-week.

SHANGHAI, Sep 19 (SMM) -  SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 31.01 million mt in the week ending September 18, an increase of 18.1% week-on-week.

The shipments from Australia rose 18.7% on a weekly basis to 17.73 million mt, of which 13.87 million mt or 78.2% went to China, an increase of 16.1%. The shipments from Brazil jumped 22.8% on a weekly basis to 7.02 million mt, of which 2.27 million mt or 32.3% went to China, a decrease of 28.4%.


The four major mining companies shipped a combined 22.44 million mt of iron ore last week, an increase of 3.11 million mt from a week earlier.


A total of 23.47 million mt of iron ore arrived at Chinese ports last week, up 49.2% week-on-week.
