World Steel Association: Global Crude Steel Production in July 2022 Down 6.5% YoY

According to the data released by World Steel Association, the crude steel output of the 64 countries included in the statistics stood at 149.3 million mt, a year-on-year decrease of 6.5%.

SHANGHAI, Aug 25 (SMM) - According to the data released by World Steel Association, the crude steel output of the 64 countries included in the statistics stood at 149.3 million mt, a year-on-year decrease of 6.5%.

Crude steel output in July 2022 in different areas

In July 2022, crude steel production in Africa was 1.2 million mt, down 5.4% YoY; crude steel production in Asia and Oceania was 110.1 million mt, 5.2% lower than the year before; crude steel production in EU (27 countries) was 11.7 million mt, down 6.7% from the previous year, and that other European countries amounted to 3.5 million mt, a YoY decline of 16.5%; crude steel output in Middle East rose 24.2 % on the year to 3.2 million mt while that in North America fell 5.4% YoY to 9.6 million mt; Russia and other CIS countries as well as Ukraine produced 6.4 million mt of crude steel, down 29.1%; the crude steel output of South America stood at 3.6 million mt, a year-on-year decrease of 7.8%.

The top ten producers of crude steel in July 2022 include China (81.4 million mt, down 6.4% YoY), India (10.1million mt, up 3.2% YoY), Japan (7.3 million mt, down 8.5% YoY), America (7 million mt, down 6.4% YoY), Russia (5.5 million mt, down 13.2% YoY), South Korea (6.1 million mt, down 0.6% YoY), Germany (3 million mt, down 2% YoY), Turkey (2.7 million mt, down 20.7% YoY), Brazil (2.8 million mt, down 8.7% YoY) and Iran (2 million mt, up 34.1% YoY).
