SHANGHAI, Jul 7 (SMM) -The main railway line carrying coal to Australia's Newcastle port, which was closed late on Tuesday due to heavy rain, is expected to reopen within the next 48 hours, the Australian railway operator said.
The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) said it closed the Hunter Valley coal mine rail network in NSW after rain and flooding affected coal, freight and passenger services.
The closure not only affects the supply of coal to Newcastle, the world's largest coal export port, but also the power station, which currently requires rail transport, as normal supplies to mines near the power station have been disrupted.
