On February 15, Baosteel signed an investment agreement with the people's Government of Bayingoleng Mongolia Autonomous Prefecture and Jingxian County, Xinjiang, for the construction and investment of the world's first steel short process "zero carbon plant" demonstration production line-Bazhou Iron and Steel Green short process Project.

According to the agreement, the two sides jointly uphold the new development concept of "innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing", fully integrate the resource advantages of Hejing County and the technological, financial and management advantages of Baosteel in the field of clean energy, and jointly promote the construction of green energy. enhance the sustainable development and comprehensive competitiveness of Baosteel, and create a green and low-carbon county seat. To build the world's first new energy steel short process "zero carbon plant" demonstration production line of "green power + electric furnace + thin strip continuous casting and rolling" in Hejing County.

Through consultation between the two sides, the Hejing county government fully supports the construction of a green zero-carbon steel short-process demonstration production line of "green electricity + electric furnace + strip continuous casting and rolling", and gives comprehensive support in terms of land use, energy consumption indicators, planning capacity, and examination and approval of Electroweb access to the network. Baosteel has accelerated its progress in project scheme design and equipment selection, and strives to start construction in the second half of the year, and to be completed and put into production in the second half of 2023. The production line will achieve zero carbon emissions through the use of photovoltaic green electricity and forestry carbon sequestration.
