Many Companies in Tangshan Halted Sintering Machines as Environmental Protection Restrictions Tightened

Recently, iron and steel enterprises in Tangshan have gradually tightened production restrictions. According to the latest requirements of the Tangshan Chamber of Commerce on October 20, the sintering machines of iron and steel enterprises will continue to operate in the daytime and stop production at 10:00 pm. on October 20, and will resume production at 8 am on October 21.

SHANGHAI, Oct 21 (SMM) - Recently, iron and steel enterprises in Tangshan have gradually tightened production restrictions. According to the latest requirements of the Tangshan Chamber of Commerce on October 20, the sintering machines of iron and steel enterprises will continue to operate in the daytime and stop production at 10:00 pm. on October 20, and will resume production at 8 am on October 21.

Except for Hegang, Tangzhonghou and Delong which will keep one sintering machine in production, the rest of the sintering machines will be shut down as required. At present, the Department of Atmosphere of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment is carrying out supervision and inspection on the management and control of scattered coal in all counties and districts, and the Law Enforcement Bureau of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment is carrying out supervision and inspection on steel enterprises.

It is expected that in the short term, environmental protection inspections at all levels in Tangshan will be more frequent than before.

[SMM Hot-Rolled Coil Daily Transactions] Spot Transactions Weakened Somewhat

[SMM Daily Hot-Rolled Coil Trading] On March 18, the total daily trading volume of hot-rolled coil among SMM sample enterprises in four cities (Shanghai, Lecong, Tianjin, and Ningbo) was 14,430 mt, down 640 mt day on day, or 4.2%, with up 14.43% YoY on a calendar basis and down 26.56% YoY on a lunar calendar basis.
