SHANGHAI, Sep 28 (SMM) - HBIS Xuangang has suspended production at all of its blast furnaces recently, in order to cooperate with the progress of the Beijing Winter Olympics as scheduled, according to the most recent SMM survey. The suspension of production is expected to be long, and when the blast furnaces will resume operation remains undetermined.

Prior to this suspension, the monthly output of building materials at HBIS Xuangang was about 350,000-400,000 mt.

It is understood that HBIS Xuangang has transferred part of the production capacity to Laoting county of Tangshan, Hebei province, and is expected to develop EAFs and other steel supporting industries.

As the Winter Olympics is approaching, steel mills in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region may face strict production reduction and shutdown requirements, involving industrial enterprises within the nearly 1,000 km scope of the Beijing Winter Olympics venue.
