Benefiting from the strong demand in new energy vehicles, photovoltaic and other fields, the supply of aluminum electrolytic capacitors in the market has been tight since the second half of last year. As early as March this year, a number of large manufacturers led by Ruby and Kamei announced an increase in the price of aluminum electrolytic capacitors, and then Aihua Group and Jianghai shares also followed suit, forming a neat rise in aluminum capacitors.
Now, the rise in prices has begun again. It is reported that the world's top three suppliers of aluminum electrolytic capacitors plan to carry out a new wave of upward action in the third quarter.
There is an imbalance between supply and demand, and the capacity order ratio is as high as 1:4.
Recently, the epidemic in Malaysia has shown no signs of improvement, and the number of confirmed cases has broken out in a single day. The market expects that the full blockade will be difficult to lift in the short term. Although enterprises can maintain 60% of the manpower to go to work, the production capacity of relevant manufacturers is still limited.
This situation has disrupted the already tightened supply of aluminum electrolytic capacitors. As the main production base of aluminum electrolytic capacitors in the world, large-scale production in Malaysian factories has been interrupted at the advent of the peak demand season, which is undoubtedly even worse.
Recently, the top three suppliers of aluminum electrolytic capacitors in the world, Jiamei, Nijikang and Ruby, have raised the originally planned price increase from 9% to 12% to 10% to 15%, mainly due to capacitor capacity damage caused by the epidemic.
Some analysts said to the author that the imbalance between supply and demand is indeed very serious, and the degree of shortage may be a little greater. Take Jianghai shares that we tracked before as an example, when the ratio of production capacity to orders was the most serious, it was 1: 4. Although it may be alleviated now, it is still very serious.
As far as I know, Jianghai shares said in an institutional survey a few days ago, "at present, the delivery time of aluminum electrolysis is longer than that of the same period, among which the delivery time of solder needle products is longer."
The above analyst pointed out: "although the traditional peak season has not yet come, but mainly the global differentiation of the supply side, in the final analysis, it is the separation of the region." That is, the equivalent of global demand has not been particularly affected, but in terms of supply, it is being involuted everywhere, so the demand will grow. "
"take the domestic country as an example, the original demand is only so much, but now we all look for domestic suppliers. For domestic suppliers, demand is growing, and for domestic customers, demand is also growing. Then overseas customers because of the limited supply capacity, there is not much decline in the overseas market. " The analyst further revealed to the author.
The rising cost is superimposed on the traditional peak season, and the price increase is expected to continue.
It is reported that the aluminum electrolytic capacitor is made of aluminum cylinder as negative electrode, which is filled with liquid electrolyte and inserted into a curved aluminum strip as positive electrode. The key technical index of aluminum electrolytic capacitor depends to a large extent on the performance of aluminum foil. in the production process, the manufacturing process of aluminum foil directly affects the performance of the finished capacitor.
The production cost of aluminum foil accounts for 30% of the total cost of aluminum electrolytic capacitors, as commodities have skyrocketed since the second half of last year. Among them, LME aluminum reached a two-year high in May this year, although it has fallen since then, but the overall consolidation is still at a high level. As of July 23, LME aluminum was at 2508.5 US dollars per ton. This undoubtedly brings the pressure of rising cost to the aluminum electrolytic capacitor manufacturers.
Aihua Group previously said that the company will adjust the structure and prices of some products in the light of the actual capacity allocation and the changes in the prices of raw materials.
Some people in the industry told me: "Foreign giants have begun to raise prices, and domestic manufacturers will certainly further follow the rise, and with the release of chip production capacity, the demand for these standard passive components will increase again." so the price increase is expected to continue. "
As for whether there is a situation of hoarding, people in the industry said that there are also many people in the market discussing this situation, but now there is no stock, and the delivery time of the major manufacturers is extended, so hoarding is very difficult.
In addition, Malaysia, as a major producer of aluminum electrolytic capacitors, the Malaysian plants of the top two manufacturers in the world, Jiamei Gong and Nijikang, are located in the worst-hit areas of the epidemic. After the Malaysian government announced the extension of the blockade order at the end of June, the two manufacturers began to suspend production on July 3, while Nikon informed its factories to stop production before July 20.
In addition, Lilong Power and Camry subsidiary ASJ also have factories in Malaysia. Even if the production line can maintain 60% of the manpower, it is still difficult to effectively improve the supply and demand situation.
To sum up, under the superposition of many reasons, the aluminum electrolytic capacitor market was originally in a state of tight supply, so far, instead of seeing any signs of relief, it may become more and more serious. As we all know, the third and fourth quarters are the traditional peak season of consumer electronics, the demand for aluminum electrolytic capacitors may be more exuberant, and the mismatch between supply and demand may continue.
