SHANGHAI, Jul 14 (SMM) – China's steel production decreased in early July.
The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) reported that crude steel output across major mills in China averaged 2.14 million mt per day in the first ten days of July, down 5.56% from late June and up 0.32% from the same period a year ago.
Average daily production of pig iron across those mills fell 3.98% from late June to 1.86 million mt in early July, and that of steel products fell 13.98% to 1.96 million mt.
As of July 10, inventories of steel products across those mills stood at 14.06 million mt, up 2.12% or 291,200 mt from late June. The stocks were 2.44 million mt, or 20.96% higher than the beginning of the year, and were 441,400 mt, or 3.24% higher than the same period last year.
