International Aluminium Association: world alumina production increased by 8.57% to 12.166 million tons in May compared with the same period last year.

According to the data of the International Aluminium Association, the world alumina production in May 2021 was 12.166 million tons. There was an increase of 3.86 per cent from 11.714 million tons in April 2021. On a year-on-year basis, world alumina production rose 8.57 per cent in May from 11.206 million tons.

In the first five months of this year, world alumina production totaled 58.158 million tons, up 6.07 percent from 54.829 million tons in the same period last year.

Of this total, China's alumina production in May was 6.51 million tons, up 3.33 percent from 6.3 million tons in April. A year-on-year increase of 10.90% from 5.87 million tons. From January to May this year, China's output was 31.16 million tons, an increase of 9.49 percent over the 28.46 million tons in the same period last year.
