SHANGHAI, Jun 1 (SMM) — The Tangshan Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment held a meeting on May 23, which includes in-depth governance of steel enterprises, capacity replacement, total emission reduction, and transformation and upgrading.
In terms of capacity replacement, 25 companies shall shut down 1,212 blast furnaces, 8 converters, and 29 sintering machines before autumn and winter.
In terms of total emission reduction, 22 steel companies shall implement a monthly total emission reduction of no less than 30%.
In addition, the "Tangshan Iron and Steel Industry Green Transformation Plan" will be formulated to coordinate and promote the elimination of outdated production capacity, relocation from cities, integration and reorganisation, blast furnace process transformation, and accelerate the relocation of Jinma Iron and Steel, Huaxi Iron and Steel, Tangshan Stainless Steel and to establish high-quality steel industry base.
