[GM's Cruise acquires self-driving startup Voyage] GM's majority-owned self-driving technology company Cruise has announced that it has acquired self-driving car startup Voyage, which is running its services in the pension community. On March 15, Cruise President Kyle Vogt said on Twitter: "I am pleased to welcome Oliver Cameron and Voyage to the Cruise team."

Cruise, a self-driving technology company majority owned by General Motors, has announced that it has acquired self-driving car startup Voyage, which is running its services in the pension community. The two sides did not disclose the exact amount of the deal.

Cruise President Kyle Vogt confirmed the news on Twitter on March 15, saying: "I am pleased to welcome Oliver Cameron and Voyage to the Cruise team. Voyage is a flexible and capable company, and we share a common mission to make traffic safer and more convenient. I'm glad they can join us. "

The deal adds more than 60 self-driving car developers and operators to Cruise, and Voyage CEO Cameron will join Cruise, as vice president of products.

Cruise's acquisition of Voyage comes at a time of consolidation of self-driving companies, such as the acquisition of Zoox by Amazon last year. For Voyage, joining Cruise allows them to better continue their development work, which employs 1800 people and has a lot of money. Voyage raised a total of $52 million, while Cruise raised more than $8 billion and received about $1 billion a year from GM.

"the self-driving industry is consolidating, and leaders are rising rapidly in this trillion-dollar market," Cameron said on Voyage's official blog. Over the past five years, I have been closely related to the self-driving industry, so I can say with certainty that with its advanced self-driving technology, unique carmaker partnerships, and pure electric vehicles that do not require human control, Cruise will be the leader. "

Cameron revealed that key members of the Voyage technical team will work on the development of the Cruise Origin model, Cruise's self-driving ferry.
