SHANGHAI, Mar 1 (SMM)— Operating rates across lead-acid battery producers in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei and Hebei provinces lost 2.3 percentage points from February 5, but rose markedly from February 19 to 68.46% as of Friday February 26.

Due to SMM sample adjustments, the production capacity of Zhejiang Jujiang and Zhejiang Tieying has increased, while Zhejiang Xindali has been eliminated due to its suspension of production.

A small number of large companies that produced in shifts during CNY maintained stable output. Other lead-acid battery companies have resumed production around February 19, and most companies have completed the work resumption last week. The operating rates will gradually increase, while the recruitment cycle of enterprises after the CNY is likely to weigh on the operating rate of the battery companies. Compared to previous years, the work resumption in 2021 was faster as more migrant worker spent the holiday on their employment sites.

The operating rates are expected to rise further this week as more companies will fully resumed production.
