Aluminium billet inventories rose 14,900 mt on week

SMM data showed that stocks of 6063 aluminium billet across the five major consumption areas – Foshan, Wuxi, Huzhou, Changzhou and Nanchang – in China expanded 14,900 from the prior week to 85,700 mt as of January 7.

SHANGHAI, Jan 7 (SMM) –SMM data showed that stocks of 6063 aluminium billet across the five major consumption areas – Foshan, Wuxi, Huzhou, Changzhou and Nanchang – in China expanded 14,900 from the prior week to 85,700 mt as of January 7. Stocks were stable in Wuxi, but built up in the other four areas, with Guangdong seeing the largest increase in aluminium billet stocks which increased 9,100 mt on the week to 41,600 mt. Stocks expanded 3,200 mt to 10,000 mt in Nanchang, while rose slightly by 1,600 mt and 1,000 mt in Changzhou and Huzhou respectively.

The latest SMM data showed that the spot price index for No.1 petroleum coke in north-east China was recorded at 4,635.46 yuan/mt, flat WoW; the spot price index for No.2 petroleum coke in Shandong was recorded at 4,354.42 yuan/mt, up 1.16% WoW; the spot price index for No.3 petroleum coke in Shandong was recorded at 3,890.35 yuan/mt, up 1.88% WoW; the spot price index for No.4 petroleum coke in Shandong was recorded at 2,319.16 yuan/mt, up 0.66% WoW; and the spot price index for No.3 petroleum coke in the northwest was recorded at 4,202.47 yuan/mt, flat WoW.

Specifically, the total registered volume in Shanghai was 1,625 mt, an increase of 0 mt from the previous trading day; in Guangdong, it was 1,462 mt, a decrease of 29 mt; in Jiangsu, it was 7,206 mt, an increase of 60 mt; in Zhejiang, it was 10,374 mt, an increase of 149 mt; in Chongqing, it was 2,165 mt, an increase of 0 mt; and in Sichuan, it was 269 mt, a decrease of 90 mt.

[SMM Aluminum Flash] This week, trading sentiment among domestic aluminum fluoride enterprises was moderate, and aluminum fluoride prices continued to rise. As of now, SMM mainstream quotations for aluminum fluoride are 11,500-12,300 yuan/mt; cryolite spot prices firmed up, with SMM reporting cryolite at 8,000-9,000 yuan/mt. In addition, SMM learned that high-grade aluminum fluoride prices, supported by costs, climbed to around 12,400-12,800 yuan/mt this week.
