SMM: it is reported that Maserati will provide an all-electric version of all its six models, and the company also said that all its all-electric models will be included in a product line called Folgore, which means "lightning" in Italian.

Alessio Barausse, product planning manager at Maserati, said that by equipping all models with pure electric versions, Maserati will start a "revolution in all electric vehicles" (BEVolution) and benefit from it. Barausse says Maserati expects the number of electric cars in her reference market to rise to 30 by 2025, with global sales reaching 650000. By contrast, it sold only six electric vehicles in its reference market last year, with sales of 130000.

Mike Manley, chief executive of FCA, said: "one day, 75000 of the company's cars will be electric, but we don't know when that day will come when a reporter asked how many of them are all-electric cars at the MC20 supercar conference this week, when Maserati plans to sell 100% of the cars worldwide by 2025."

Davide Danesin, project manager of the new GranTurismo sports car, said the Folgore model will carry three motors: one on the front axle and two on the two rear wheels. These three motors have the same output power and provide all-wheel drive and seamless torque vectors for the Folgore model. The GranTurismo is the first Folgore series to be launched in 2022.

Danesin declined to give specific technical information on the Folgore models, but revealed that the vehicles will be equipped with battery packs with a capacity of about 100 kilowatt hours. "We plan to provide top power and mileage for customers in these luxury car segments, so we don't plan to use smaller battery packs, although they can save some money on purchase price," he said. but at the expense of performance and mileage. "

Maserati has not disclosed its battery supplier, but the company says its battery pack will be assembled at FCA's Battery Hub plant in Turin. Battery Hub will also supply Fiat's new 500 all-electric model, which will arrive at dealerships later this year.

Similar to the Porsche Taycan, the Folgore series will use an 800V circuit structure for fast charging. Danesin said that if a 300kW charging pile is used, the Folgore model can increase its range by 130km in just five minutes.

Manley also said Maserati would invest more than $2.96 billion to launch 13 new models and derivatives by 2025, with the goal of increasing annual sales to 75000. He said that in the new product plan, the group has provided Maserati with a lot of resources to restore Maserati's sales growth and profitability. After peaking at 48700 in 2017, Maserati's global sales fell to 26500 last year and fell 48 per cent to 7000 in the first half of 2020, according to the data. Maserati's profit margins were 13.8 per cent and 5.7 per cent in 2017 and 2018 respectively, falling to minus 12 per cent in 2019 and minus 40 per cent in the first half of 2020.

The new management team, led by CEO Davide Grasso and Executive Chairman Harald Wester, was established in July 2019. Wester also serves as the chief technology officer of FCA. Manley said he expected 2020 "to be the last year for Maserati to lose money". "by 2025, maybe earlier", Maserati should be able to meet the above-mentioned 15 per cent operating margin target, he says.
