SSAB and ArcelorMittal increase the price of steel plates in the US market by US $40 / ton.

SMM8 March 28: it is reported that SSAB USA has informed customers on August 24th that it will increase all new orders for medium and heavy steel plates by US $40 / ton, effective immediately.

Prior to this, Nucor decided to announce a minimum floor price of $560 / st on August 21.

Although there is news that there is any persistence of the price increase given the continued weak demand, some people believe that the price increase may help to establish a floor for medium and heavy plate prices.

Later on August 24th, ArcelorMittal USA also announced that it would increase the price of all new orders for steel plates by US $40 / tonne, which is applicable to all non-contract carbon, HSLA, alloys, heat treatment and specialty plates.
