Worldsteel: Global crude steel production dropped 8.7% YoY in May

Global crude steel production increased 9.1% to 148.8 million mt in May from a month earlier, to produce a year-over-year decline of 8.7%, according to SMM calculation based on data from the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) released Monday.

SHANGHAI, Jun 23 (SMM) – Global crude steel production increased 9.1% to 148.8 million mt in May from a month earlier, to produce a year-over-year decline of 8.7%, according to SMM calculation based on data from the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) released Monday.

 

In April, crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the Worldsteel dropped 13.4% year on year to 136.4 million mt.

 

Data from the Worldsteel also showed that China’s crude steel production increased 4.2% year on year to 92.3 million mt in May.
