NBS: China raw iron ore output up 11.2% YoY in April

China’s production of raw iron ore in April increased 11.2% from a year ago to 74.38 million mt, with the accumulative output in the first four months of this year 3% higher at 262.74 million mt, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

SHANGHAI, May 19 (SMM) – China’s production of raw iron ore in April increased 11.2% from a year ago to 74.38 million mt, with the accumulative output in the first four months of this year 3% higher at 262.74 million mt, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). 


NBS data showed that China’s wire rods production decreased 3.1% year on year to 12.94 million mt in April, while the output of cold-rolled thin plate expanded 8.5% and came in at 3.36 million mt. 


For the January-to-April period, China’s wire rods production fell 3.1% year on year to 46.42 million mt, while the output of cold-rolled thin plate dipped 5.6% to 10.61 million mt.


NBS data also indicated that China’s output of pig iron increased 7.5% from a month ago to 72.02 million mt in April, to generate a year-over-year decline of 1.2%.
