SMM5 19 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-Brazilian miner Vale said on Monday that it would resume shipping operations at its Teluk Rubiah Marine Terminal distribution center in Malaysia after ensuring the resources needed for safe operation.

The company was shut down on March 24 because the company was unable to ensure safe operation as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Over the past two weeks, the terminal has been maintained to ensure a safe return to work, and Vale said that recovery work had begun on Saturday, May 16.

Vale said: "while this will not affect Vale's target of 3.1-330 million tons of iron ore in 2020, the resumption of operation will increase the company's operational flexibility and strengthen its value chain."

The Malaysian terminal shipped 23.7 million tons of iron ore in 2019.
