SHANGHAI, May 18 (SMM) – Fengrun district of Tangshan, China’s top steelmaking hub and located near Beijing, will implement strict production restrictions through the end of the month, as China's biggest annual political event—Two Sessions—will convene on May 21 and May 22 in the capital city.

There are three blast furnace steelmakers—Tianzhu, Ruifeng and Xinbaotai—in this district, and Tianzhu is required to keep only a 208㎡ sintering machine running and Xinbaotai to keep only a 210㎡ sintering machine running during 8:00 CST May 18 to 24:00 CST May 31.

During the same period, re-rollers, excluding cold-rolling mills, brick-tile kilns, lime kilns and foundries who use coal and coke as energy are ordered to suspend production.

Authorities of the rest part of Tangshan have yet to announce production curbs. It takes roughly 2 hours by road to get from Tangshan to Beijing.
