1. Global orders for new ships totaled 1.14 million CGT in April

The latest Clarkson data show that global new ship orders totaled 1.14 million CGT, in April, up from 890000 CGT, in March for the second month in a row. Among them, Chinese shipping companies received a total of 38 730000 CGT, in the global market share of about 64%, ranking first in the world. South Korean shipping companies received a total of eight 230000 CGT, in the global market share of about 20 per cent, ranking second. Russian shipping companies ranked third, with a total of seven ships of 65000 CGT, accounting for about 5.7 per cent of the market. Japan ranked fourth with two ships of 55000 CGT.

2. Hebei Province to promote ultra-low emission control in six major industries, such as iron and steel, cement, etc.

It has been learned from the Department of Ecological Environment of Hebei Province that in order to ensure the continuous improvement of ambient air quality and promote the green development of industrial enterprises, Hebei will carry out ultra-low emission transformation in six major industries, including electric power, iron and steel, coking, cement, flat glass and ceramics. According to the plan, Hebei will speed up the transformation of 120 enterprises, including flat glass, cement and ceramic industries, with ultra-low emissions. By the end of October, the ultra-low emission transformation tasks of the six key industries will be basically completed.

1. Non-farm payrolls in the United States fell by 20.5 million in April, the biggest drop on record

Non-farm payrolls fell 20.5 million in April, the biggest drop since records began in 1939, and are expected to fall by 22 million, up from 701000. The unemployment rate in the United States was 14.7% in April, the highest level since the 1940s, with an estimated 16%, compared with a previous value of 4.4%. The average hourly wage in the United States rose 4.7% in April from a month earlier and is expected to rise 0.4%.
