Hebei Jinxi Iron & Steel to commission a 2000m³ blast furnace at end-M

SHANGHAI, Apr 23 (SMM) – Hebei Jinxi Iron & Steel plans to put a 2,000m³ blast furnace into operation at the end of May, SMM learned.

This equates to pig iron capacity of 5,500 mt per day, or 1.7 million per annum. The steelmaker had about 9.85 million mt per annum of pig iron capacity as of the end of 2019.

The mill suspended a 650mm strip production line and an 850mm strip production line earlier this month, and plans to resume the 650mm one in early May, while the resumption of the 850mm one is expected in early November.

About 5,000 mt per day of strip steel capacity is now offline due to the suspension of the two production lines.
