Daily crude steel output at CISA key mills down 2.68% in early February

As of February 10, inventories of steel products across those mills stood at 18.51 million mt, up 41.69% from January 31

SHANGHAI, Feb 17 (SMM) – Daily crude steel output across China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) key mills averaged 1.94 million mt in February 1-10, down 2.68% from the last 11 days of January, but up 3.16% from the same period a year ago, according to the latest data from CISA.


During the same period, average daily production of pig iron across those CISA key mills shrank 1.15% to stand at 1.8 million mt, but up 0.91% on a yearly basis. Daily output of steel products declined 9.09% to 1.76 million mt, standing 2.51% higher on the year. 


As of February 10, inventories of steel products across those mills stood at 18.51 million mt, up 5.45 million mt or 41.69% from January 31, and up 8.98 million mt or 94.23% from the start of the year. 


Separately, average daily crude steel production at steelmakers across China is estimated at 2.61 million mt in February 1-10, down 2.18% from January 21-31.
