Construction work in Zhengzhou yet to feel impact ahead of Chinese Ethnic Games

Local construction sites have not received any official notice about suspension

SHANGHAI, Aug 21 (SMM) – Operation and steel consumption at construction sites in Zhengzhou of Henan province has yet to receive significant impact from the upcoming Chinese Ethnic Games, an SMM survey found, while market rumored that local construction work was ordered to suspend from August 20. 

Local construction operation is do expected to halt next month, as the 11th Chinese Ethnic Games will be held in Zhengzhou city during September 8-16. 

Traders reported lower shipments of construction materials to Zhengzhou as of August 21, but local construction sites have not received any official notice about suspension. 

Major steel suppliers to Zhengzhou include Shandong’s Jinan Iron & Steel in, Henan’s Anyang Iron & Steel, and steel mills in the nearby Shanxi province. Maintenance across those suppliers increased recently as steelmakers aimed to prop up steel prices
