SHANGHAI, Aug 15 (SMM) – Handan city in China's top iron and steel production base of Hebei will cut its capacity by 11.03 million mt in 2019-2020, as part of the efforts to control air pollution and phase out excessive capacity, a senior government official said on Tuesday August 13.
By 2020, some 40% of the iron, steel making capacity in Handan will be removed compared with the start of 2013.
According to the official, Handan reduced a total of iron making capacity of 17.83 million mt and steelmaking capacity of 13.93 million mt in 2012-2018.
