First Quantum is expected to restart the Ravensthorpe mine in western Australia in the first quarter of next year. The project is expected to produce 20,000 tons of nickel by 2020 and 30,000 tons by 2021.

SMM7 31-the first Quantum (First Quantum Minerals) is expected to restart the Ravensthorpe mine in western Australia in the first quarter of next year.

The project is expected to produce 20,000 tons of nickel by 2020 and 30,000 tons by 2021.

The suspension of production was due to the fact that nickel prices were low in the third quarter of 2017, at 10,524 / tonne, so the mine stopped production in October 2017.

First Quantum's results for the second quarter of 2017 showed that Ravensthorpe produced 11512 tons of nickel in the first half of the year, compared with 12088 tons a year earlier.

In 2017, revenue from the Ravensthorpe nickel mine was $146 million and that from the cobalt mine was $17 million.
