SMM News: June 27, 2019-Vale informed that from now on, Mr., Marcello Spinelli will focus on managing the ferrous metals business, while Mr. Juarez Saliba will be responsible for the coal business.
Mr. Juarez Saliba will also continue to be responsible for the company's strategy, prospecting, new business and technology. He has worked in the mining industry and Vale operations for 17 years and has extensive and profound knowledge of the field. Before returning to Vale in 2017, he worked as an executive and consultant at several companies in Brazil and overseas. Mr. Juarez Saliba's task is to stabilize coal production in order to achieve the sustainable and reliable development of the coal business.
Under a proposal put forward by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Eduardo Bartolomeo, and approved by the Board of Directors of the Company, Mr., Marcello Spinelli will focus on the management of its ferrous metals business in the future, which will strengthen Vale's strategic pillar of its safety and excellence operations, new agreements between the company and society, and commitment to maximize the quality of iron ore.
