World Iron and Steel Association: global crude Steel production increased by 2.6% in August compared with the same period last year

SMM, Sept. 27: in August 2018, the (worldsteel) of the World Iron and Steel Association reported that global crude steel production was 151.7 million tons, an increase of 2.6 percent over the same period last year. China produced 80.3 million tons of crude steel in August 2018, up 2.7 per cent from a year earlier. India produced 8.8 million tons of crude steel in August 2018, up 3.7 per cent from a year earlier. In August 2018, Japan produced 8.8 million tons of crude steel, an increase of 0.9 per cent over the same period last year. South Korea produced 6.1 million tons of crude steel in August 2018, unchanged from a year earlier.

Turkey's crude steel production in August 2018 was 3 million tons, down 5.7 per cent from a year earlier.

Ukraine produced 1.8 million tons of crude steel in August, down 3.7 per cent from a year earlier.

In August 2018, the US produced 7.5 million tons of crude steel, up 5.1 per cent from a year earlier.
