China's steel bar output rises 14.8% YoY in Mar

This raised the output in the first three months of the year by 12.8% from the same period a year ago

SHANGHAI, Apr 22 (SMM) – China's production of steel bar increased 14.8% on a yearly basis and stood at 19.11 million mt in March, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday April 22. 

This raised the output in the first three months of the year by 12.8% from the same period a year ago, to 52.99 million mt. 

In March, China produced some 11.89 million mt of the medium-sized steel band, up 7.9% on the year. Output in January-March registered 35.81 million mt, up 13.2% year on year. 

China’s output of wire rods came in at 12.52 million mt in March, up 14.2% from March 2018. This bolstered the production in January-March by 12.3% on the year, to 35.39 million mt.
