Port Hedland's iron ore exports to China drop 2.23 million mt on month

Exports to China accounted for 84.2% of iron ore leaving port Hedland in Jan

SHANGHAI, Feb 12 (SMM) – Port Hedland in Australia exported some 35.14 million mt of iron ore to China in January, down 2.23 million mt from December but up 490,000 mt from January 2018, showed data from the Pilbara Ports Authority. 

This accounted for 84.2% of iron ore leaving port Hedland last month, up some 2.5% in December.  

Total exports of iron ore from the port stood at 41.76 million mt in January, down 4 million from December but up 700,000 mt from a year earlier, the data showed.
