Iron ore seaborne arrivals to fall at Chinese ports

Seaborne arrivals at major ports in Shandong province are likely to fall, while cargoes arriving at Tangshan ports will grow

SHANGHAI, Jan 21 (SMM) – Sixty-five vessels carrying 9.99 million mt of iron ore are expected to arrive at major Chinese ports in the week ended Thursday January 24, down 680,000 mt from the previous week, SMM data showed. 

Seaborne arrivals at major ports in Shandong province are likely to fall, while cargoes arriving at Tangshan ports will grow. 

For the same week, iron ore shipments departing Australian ports are expected to grow by 70,000 mt from the prior week to 14.98 million mt. Iron ore leaving Brazilian ports are likely to rebound by 140,000 mt to 7.66 million mt.
