Pre-CNY maintenance lowers planned rebar output for Jan

Scheduled output across 31 major producers of long steel is expected to fall 4% from actual output in Dec

SHANGHAI, Jan 9 (SMM) – Scheduled output of rebar in January across 31 major producers of long steel is expected to fall 4% from actual output in December and stand at 7.48 million mt, an SMM survey showed. Maintenance ahead of CNY accounted for the decline. 

Scheduled output of wire rods at surveyed mills is likely to grow 3% from realised output in December, to 2.84 million mt in January. 

Rebar output for domestic sales is planned at 7.22 million mt in January, down 4.82% month on month, while exports are likely to rally by 56% to 166,000 mt.
