SHANGHAI, Oct 23 (SMM) – Steel mills in Linfen of Shanxi province, China's biggest coal producing region, will face winter cuts from November 15, 2018 to March 15, 2019, according to the latest release by the local government.
Other sectors affected include coking, thermal power, casting, chemical, and building materials.
Mills in Category B will face cuts of 30% in blast furnace capacity. Cuts for mills in Category C stand at 50%, while mills in Category D will be suspended, SMM learned. Mills in Category D include those that failed to meet environmental targets set by the city in 2017 and 2018.
Category A mills will be exempt from production restrictions in the upcoming winter.
