SHANGHAI, Oct 8 (SMM) – Steel mills in Linfen of Shanxi province will face extended production curbs for October and November as the city strives to control smog and to improve its standing in an air quality ranking across China.

Liheng and Jianbang mills were required to halve their capacity during October 11-30, marking the third round of production cuts. The fourth round of cuts will cover mills such as Xingyuan Steel, Zhongsheng Steel, Xinjinshan Special Type Steel, and Dongfang Henglue Precision Casting, SMM learned.

Steelmakers in Linfen faced the first round of cuts in September 1-20, and the second round during September 21-October 10. Mills underwent staggered production cuts of about 50%.
