Sintering machines in Tangshan to shut in polluted weather

Only one sintering machine at some steelmakers in Tangshan will be allowed to operate from 18:00 CST on Sep 13 to noon on Sep 15

SHANGHAI, Sep 13 (SMM) – Only one sintering machine at some steelmakers in Tangshan, Hebei province will be allowed to operate from 18:00 CST on Thursday September 13 to noon on Saturday September 15, SMM learned.

The affected steelmakers are Tangyin Steel, Tanggang’s ironmaking plant, Tangshan Stainless Steel, Guoyi Special Steel, Xinbaotai Steel, Tianzhu Steel, Ruifeng Steel, Kaiheng Steel, Jinan Steel, Guofeng Steel, Donghua Steel, Jinma Industrial, Donghai Special Steel and Donghai Steel.

Mills will have to stop the coking process from 18:00 CST on Thursday to noon on Friday.

The city government imposed the requirement in face of potential heavy pollution in the city centre during that period.
