More than half of rebar and wire rod production in Pingxiang city of Jiangxi province will be affected as five local blast furnaces are hot idled

SHANGHAI, Aug 6 (SMM) – More than half of rebar and wire rod production in Pingxiang city of Jiangxi province will be affected as five local blast furnaces are required to be hot idled from Monday August 6 for at least two weeks, SMM learned.

This followed the provincial environmental protection bureau stationed in the city on Monday. There are a total of seven operating blast furnaces in the city owned by Jiangxi Pingxiang Anyuan Iron & Steel.

Typical daily production of rebar and wire rods in Pingxiang stands at around 17,000 mt, and the affected volume is expected at some 11,000 mt per day, SMM calculated.
