China launches anti-dumping probe on stainless steel imports

Investigations will target stainless steel billet, hot-rolled coil/sheet imports from the EU, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia

SHANGHAI, Jul 23 (SMM) – China has decided to carry out anti-dumping investigations against stainless steel billet and hot-rolled coil/sheet imported from the European Union countries, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia from Monday July 23, according to the Ministry of Commerce.  

Just one week earlier on Monday July 16, the ministry accepted an application calling for an anti-dumping probe on South Korean products from the country's stainless steel industry. 

The investigation would begin on July 23 and shall be completed before July 23, 2019, according to the government statement. It can be extended until January 23, 2020 under certain circumstance.  

The investigation into stainless steel dumping will be carried out for the period from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017, while an investigation of industry damage will be from January 1, 2014 until March 31, 2018, the statement noted.
