SHANGHAI, Jul 18 (SMM) – Daily production of some 12,600 mt of hot-rolled coil (HRC) will be affected at Maanshan Iron & Steel's #4 steel rolling plant in Anhui province, SMM learned.
This followed after a gas leak during maintenance works killed two workers hospitalised eight on the morning of Tuesday July 17. The conditions of the eight injured workers have stabilised. The accident is undergoing investigation, SMM learned.
The #4 steel rolling plant mostly produces HRC. It has a 2,250 mm rolling line with annual capacity of 5.5 million mt of products.
Maanshan Iron & Steel planned to produce 392,000 mt of HRC in July, including 292,000 mt of commercial products, according to an SMM survey. It is also scheduled to manufacture 115,000 mt of rebar and 56,000 mt of wire rods this month.
