China’s daily average crude steel output hit a fresh record high in June amid moderate national property climate

SHANGHAI, Jul 16 (SMM) – China’s daily average crude steel output hit a fresh record high in June amid moderate national property climate, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed.

China produced 80.2 million mt of crude steel in June, up 7.5% from a year ago. The daily average crude steel output came in at 2.67 million mt in June, its new record high. Overall crude steel output in the first six months of this year rose 6% from a year ago, compared to the 5.4% increase in the first five months.

In June, China produced 95.51 million mt of steel products, up 7.2% year on year. This brought its overall steel products output in January-June up 6% from a year ago, compared to the 6.2% increase during January-May.

Meanwhile, the national real estate climate index stood at 101.68 in June, hovering at a moderate level, up 0.09 from May.

Real estate investment in China rose 9.7% in the first half of this year from the same period a year earlier and stood at 5.55 trillion yuan, 0.5 percentage points slimmer than the gain in the first five months of the year.

Property sales measured by floor area grew 3.3% in January-June from a year earlier, up 0.4 percentage points from the increase in the first five months.

New construction starts measured by floor area were up 11.8% in the period, up 1 percentage point from the growth in January-May.
