SHANGHAI, Jul 6 (SMM) – One of the two 230m³ sintering machines at Guofeng Iron and Steel in Tangshan, Hebei province was required to suspend during 0:00-24:00 China Standard Time (CST) on Friday July 6, on orders from the municipal environmental protection bureau.
At one point on July 4, carbon monoxide emissions at the 230m³ sintering machine exceeded the 6,000mg/m³ threshold that the Tangshan government set on June 15.
Guofeng Iron and Steel has six sintering machines, with two for each of the specifications of 230m³, 132m³, and 110m³.
Plants that failed to meet discharge standards will face a 24-hour suspension of its sintering machines, SMM learned.
Tangshan steel mills have faced frequent cuts since late May as the city tries to counter heavy air pollution.
