Iron ore port inventory down on the week

Inventories across 35 major Chinese ports and daily average deliveries shrank over the week ended Friday June 15

SHANGHAI, Jun 15 (SMM) – Iron ore inventory across 35 major Chinese ports and daily average deliveries leaving those ports both decreased over the week ended Friday June 15, SMM data showed.

The port inventory shrank 2.15 million mt from a week ago and stood at 144.38 milion mt as of June 15 due to declines in arrivals. Stocks at ports in east, north China and along the Yangtze River all fell.

Daily average deliveries leaving those ports decreased 23,000 mt week on week to 2.44 million mt as of June 15. Volumes delivered from ports in Shandong province were still limited over the week due to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Qingdao. Volumes leaving ports in Tangshan in Hebei province extended declines over the week due to production cuts on environmental concerns as well as rigorous checks on overloading.
