Shaanxi to cut coke production by 20% from Jun 1-Aug 31

The Shaanxi government issued the 2018 plan to stagger production, from Jun 1 to Aug 31 and from Nov 15 to Mar 15, 2019

SHANGHAI, Jun 14 (SMM) – The government of Shaanxi province recently issued the 2018 plan to stagger production, effective from June 1 to August 31 and from November 15 to March 15, 2019, SMM learned.

The measures target the Guanzhong area in the middle of the province, and includes major cities such as Baoji, Xianyang, Xi’an, Weinan and Tongchuan.

Plants in the coal-to-chemicals and coke sectors will cut production by 15% and 20%, respectively, from June 1 to August 31.

From November 15 to March 15, 2019, steel mills will have to cut production by 30%, based on capacities of blast furnaces. Coke plants will cut production by 30% and extend coking duration beyond 36 hours.
